Dilla’s work on donuts is probably some of the most motivating stuff ever. A dying man crafting a masterpiece reflecting on his incoming death, he knew he wouldn’t see its legacy but still gave the project the utmost seriousness. It’s been a major inspiration for me for years.
Even if it was a coincidence, the fact there were small things like the 32 guitar riffs on workinonit (the age he died) really makes the album so much more special for me.
