This is preaching to the choir, but I think people who are not bicyclists do not quite understand the level of hate, vitriol, and violence we receive for simply existing on the road. This is true in any environment: urban, suburban, rural.

If you're surprised at how spiteful, hateful, illogical, self-centred aggressive, and ignorant people can be then it's clear you've never cycled in the urban environment. Cyclists have always known.

Build a flag like I have. It’s amazing and has helped a few people feel so much more safe.
This post has a link to the kickstand I used
Here is the first post I made about it
When I have it in the over and down position cars give me more than the required 3 feet every single time
Not knowingly but accidentally I didn’t ride a bike on Wednesday due to many factors
That was the first day this year I didn’t paddle a bicycle.
It’s sad but I’m taking a brake from bike commuting to decrease my exposure to this hate. I need some mental peace for a bit
Everyone is on edge
I let the kids ride around mostly unsupervised.
Maybe I don’t watch them regularly
Not at all intended to diminish what we experience but it’s interesting how vocal complaints outside of the car are often at bikers yet i see drivers honking and flipping each other off all the time over the most minor shit
If pedestrians piss you off, maybe you have an issue with pedestrians
If drivers piss you off, maybe you have issues with drivers
If they all piss you off, maybe it’s you that’s the problem
I know…preaching to the choir
I never feel that way when I'm riding, except at dumbass motorists, and irresponsible dog owners.
