He is the elected president. He only came that far by making people believe that breaking the system, lying in his own very best interest is ok. We simply have to assume that he is not a threat to democracy. He is living proof that voters don't believe in this neo-liberal middle-class version of it.

Donald Trump is widely regarded as an authoritarian and one of the greatest threats to democracy right now, for good reasons. I don’t see any reason to assume the contrary.

Oh yes, of course he is. But he could only be elected because the majority of voters had lost interest and trust into democracy before they elected him. He did not lie about what he intended to do.
We are asking the wrong questions here. Trump is of little significance. The voters are not!
