If I were an editor at a prestigious national publication I would simply ask writers to define what they mean by words like "forced"

No, hispanic people don't like "Latinx" because there is already an existing gender neutral case in the Spanish Language: Latine. Latino-masculine, Latina-feminine, and Latine-gender neutral.

It also undercuts Chatterton's dumbass argument, because nobody is forcing gender neutrality on anybody.
