Saw a theory that the Sneaking image is a hoax and groaned really loud as I realized people are once again insinuating that Toby Fox is like Scott Cawthon

Like can people genuinely stop making up theories to justify disliking something? That's a really unusual mindset to have and is uninformed in how press media works
In a press kit, it's considered a MAJOR don't to use doctored/false imagery, it heavily damages credibility. You're specifically told to label any mockup as a concept/proof of concept as labelling otherwise is seen as poor practice.
There's been several instances of concept art ending up in press releases, but the odds of this happening intentionally are low as this is an EXTREMELY frowned upon practice that often results in major backlash.
Comparing a weird looking image to a leak that was posted to 4chan because Alex Hirsch thought people were getting too close to figuring something out is a pretty big leap in judgement, too.
Like I hate to be the "fun killer" but this theory seems like it could end up causing actual problems if...
...people are to perpetuate it and believe in it, as it would imply Toby Fox is using deceitful and taboo practices in the advertisement of the game solely for "the memes" or "because Tenna lies to people guys!"
You need to draw a line between fiction and reality here guys I'm sorry
If you still subscribe to this theory after all this, can't stop you at all.
Have fun! But I'd really hope people won't treat it as much more than a joke theory, because it makes zero sense and could actively damage Toby's credibility as a developer!
It's genuinely so stupid the lengths I've seen people go to imply that Toby is a weird trickster 24/7. This isn't how anything works. He scrapped the larger mechanic, and this is just a small room using it
It is so fucking weird people have this idea of how he’s a “CrAZY gREMLIN” 24/7 when he’s a normal person just trying to making a game. The game is silly at times, but he’s not some trickster mastermind????
Ppl want to believe he's a wacky trickster because then they can say that everything they don't like is actually fake, while everything they want to see will all drop at once in some super secret mega announcement that's totally coming tomorrow guys!
I wish people would stop making theories on things outside of the games actual content. There isn’t some big “conspiracy” going on, the devs aren't “secretly telling us something” nothing is being “leaked”…it’s a press kit with pre-established pictures being shared.
This is unfortunately common and I have a lot of thoughts on this kind of mindset in UT/DR fans as well, but the main issue for me is that this theory seems to be growing in popularity despite the fact it's... literally not plausible
I know, I got to see the image because a friend (who admitted to not like the tv head idea) shared the post. You can only believe this type of theories when you don't fully understand how the industry operates.
You say "people think toby is cawthon", but scott never did something like that too.
The comparison is more of an exaggeration based on how FNaF fans perceive Scott as a "trickster" who does fake things or makes jokes that end up being real/fake info.
Toby is not a random internet trickster, he's a professional gamedev. One that hides surprises, yeah, but does not make fake shit up to sell the game, he just omits to mention information from the public.
That's tenna's design, you just don't get to see it in detail yet.
Like guys, it's really obvious he still cut the section and then just made a joke hallway section to use the sprite and maybe the music because it would be funny. Same as the broken camera in Cyberfields.
I don't even think it's a joke section. I feel like he probably just found a way to make it work, by condensing it from multiple sections to one shorter one.
A joke hallway labeled "STEALTH ZONE" would count as "one shorter section" so we'll both get to be right. Which as we all know, is the most important part of posting on the internet. 🧠
yeah like. my biggest 'theory' is that it shouldn't have come out yet lmfao. im kinda sad it did tbh i wanted tenna to be a surprise but like what are ya gonna do
I wanted Tenna to be a surprise, but I'm very glad he looks the way he does as it's an extremely simplistic and fun design that's really cute and easy to doodle.
Which sort of is the cornerstone of most good DR designs.
Completely correct on all fronts. I have no idea where this confusion between the two of them started but it's really bizarre how widespread it is now. 😅
I have no idea where people got this perception that Toby is some kind of master troll comes from. It's like his games have meta jokes and unsolved mysteries in them and somehow that's been conflated to Toby being a liar who deliberately misleads people?

In other words, industrial-grade copium.
very excited to find out
It is the "SECRET 4TH SHERLOCK EPISODE" all over again, where people are acting like there HAS to be more because they don't like what we got.

Maybe a little, but I see where your coming from
plus toby makes actually cool games
Scott Cawthon is a bastard either way
Simple answer is (probably?) the right one!
