I'm more curious what do you use as game source(s) as that will -greatly- very, including time periods used. Why not just open up the entire data so people can see?

Hi Aida - you do stats for Woehammer, right? It would be great to chat about opportunities to collaborate.

Our dataset is from BCP and S&L, there are currently about 70 events and over 3000 individual matches recorded (1/2)

Because it's an Elo system, the raw data is pretty useless unless you're a data scientist. Even a PivotTable ninja would only really get basic insight. Our preference would be to find someone able to interpret the data properly and then write about it.

But in the meantime, our priority for new functionality is user pages, where individuals can see how their own score was calculated and see the matchup history of others, rather than publishing a bulk dataset which is only really of use to major websites.

Cool! Always love to see more data personally! What are you using as the k factor on the elo calcs? Also, I notice everyone has a much higher figure than ours. Are you introducing them at 1k? Either way, much love!

Right, I mean with @woehammer.bsky.social we do the stats and elo. and well, we just do it entirely in public, data code, all. Can't speak for Peter, but I generally don't do any work that happens behind closed doors for stats purpose, maybe no one will check it, but it's there in case anyone wants.

That's really cool - how do you get hold of the data from BCP and S&L? All of the 8Realms source data is available online and the code is just an Elo algorithm which is explained on our website, so it isn't really "behind closed doors" as such
