It's normal to feel emotional. I grieved the "loss of me". Who you are isn't defined by a mobility aid, you can define it/them and make it you.
I'm "ambulatory" - i have use of my legs, a lot of chair users don't just use them due to paralysis.
All aids are valid. All reasons for needing an aid are valid.
I only like using my aids when they feel like "me" - it's an extension of my personality, so I designed my own bits.
If an aid makes things easier, hell yeah, use that MF.
I should make me bits for furs so we can have fun. ♥️
You're not alone. Xxx
To everyone else, hello, disregard.
Actually: you can help - don't touch or grab a chair, ask if your can help. Just be normal. Don't ask intrusive questions. Assistance dogs, don't disturb.
Be you, just be mindful!
I had to spend some time in a wheelchair this summer and honestly it was incredibly eye opening.
