Compared to the Solaire amiibo, which just unlocked the Praise the Sun gesture, Nightreign Amiibo would actually have a practical function they could give them, since scanning one could just reward you with a Relic, maybe with higher odds to feature an effect specific to the Nightfarer you scanned.
I'd kill for Nightfarer Amiibo, if only because Amiibo are some of the most affordable ways to get figurines of various characters. And in this economy, I'll take it!
Honestly, with the way hardware seems to be approaching a plateau, if the switch 2 had that power it'd probably have the same battery life issues as steam deck
I can't overstate how underwhelmed I am by the news that Nintendo is releasing a new console that will be competitive with a console that released in 2016.
Nintendo...really is kind of a joke of a company. Really? A console that's competitive with something nearly a decade old, now? Why?
Certain affordances have to be made for portability. That aside, I think a big part of the reason Nintendo doesn't bother competing on tech is that it didn't pay off when they tried to with the Gamecube, and that was only further reinforced by the success when they pivoted away from it with the Wii.
I understand that, they won't be able to make something exactly on par, but to me it feels like they aren't even trying. Even with the Gamecube, they hampered themselves due to just...refusing to use a regular CD. Then they finally did use a DVD drive with the Wii, and it was their best seller.
I don't think you can realistically suggest the DVD drive is specifically what made the Wii successful. The Wii is absolutely a story of Nintendo refusing to compete on tech and being rewarded with it.
Because A lot of games are still coming out for PS4, and the performance gap between the PS4 pro and the PS5 isn't as large as the PS3-tier hardware they were using for the switch was to the PS4.
I have no doubt the Switch2 will be running *most* triple-A games without many hiccups.
Then there was no point to releasing the PS5 if they weren't going to push games forward in terms of performance standards. Just make newer PS4s, then, and release the PS5 when they make games than the predecessor can't run.
Yeah but they won't have a new box that makes people go "ooo shiny new thing".
And I'll admit there are things that the PS5 can do graphically that the PS4 pro couldn't but not anything that the game couldn't look good without. Most PS4 games still hold up incredibly in terms of visuals
