Obviously, casting Keanu Reeves feels like a bit of a tell for how they were going to play it, but I can't say I necessarily fault it. It naturally makes sense to prioritize trying to hook new fans, given this type of product, and it was still kept close enough to not actively offend existing fans.

It was nice to see inside an AC cockpit, though I'd be interested to know how much came from the showrunners or FromSoftware. The series naturally features a lot of deviation, given the multiple eras of AC lore, so it's probably not a definitive statement on how they work in the games either way.

Iirc what we know from available material from From about cockpits is that they're very cramped.

I think any Raven would spend money on making theirs comfortable in a practical way, what was in the Secret Level episode was a bit too much of a mess, but maybe that's just the character's preference.

I'll have to see if I can find it, but I remember there was an interview or something that revealed Reeves was all impromptu casting. They had the idea of it being the same rough riding, junkie pilot we see but it was not created with Reeves in mind.

As a long-time AC fan, I enjoyed every minute of it.

Kind of a fun fanfiction, we don't get to see much of the dev's interpretations of pilot life away from the machine anyway.

The Secret Level episode which actually hit me and my partner the hardest - which I’ve come to expect from the creators of Love, Death + Robots - was the Unreal Tournament one. The narrative. The action. The music. The animation. Everything clicked.

The unreal tournament episode was so good it made me go and search up info on unreal tournament and the characters. Sadly unreal tournament lore not as cool as the show made it look. But it made me go DO something, which none of the others did.
