youre so right, jessieblueaz. its about the long game, isnt it? i'm in. lets starve the beast together. maybe we can start a commune, too. i'm a pretty good gardener.
I am traveling back home with a friend and she won’t do it. But I found a 6 year old gift card to a restaurant that is still valid. It has enough to buy us both lunch.
Starting last year, I decided to really work on limiting my spending. I didn’t buy one single item of clothing. I only purchased one small Christmas present; gave books from my personal library. I’m continuing my task by not buying anything other than food & necessities in 2025. Let’s do this! ✊🏽💙
If Rs get their way and gut Medicare/SS it won’t be a protest but a way of life.
Wait till rural MAGA lives with their community hospital closed laying off staff and their grocery store closed laying off staff and they have to travel for EVERYTHING-with less income
Me, it will be easy. Stopped Amazon about years ago because I heard about how he was doing small businesses dirty and have never shopped at Walmart because they did our mom and pop stores dirty from the get-go. Fucking have the WORST products too. Talk about being indebted to China!!!!
While a 1 day economic blackout is applaudable, it doesn't hurt enough and it is only symbolic. Corporate change will only take place under a full boycott. That is why I will no longer support Amazon, Meta, Walmart & others who have subscribed to the world Trump/MAGA are trying to impose on us.
The media has received their orders! Ridicule this all day long with every newscast and panels of opinionated nobodys …just keep dissing it all day long…and blast it’s effectiveness all over the crap website that used to be Facebook
If boycotting for a day gives a baseline for the effects of it, it’s worth it. I hate to do things to intentionally hurt the economy but we need to show our power. A shitty economy will prove tRump is bad for the country, boycotts need to become a USA trend. Companies need to feel the consequences.
Well, this is one of the most encouraging threads I have seen in a long time! Once people realize they have the power and utilize it, it will be the beginning of shaking those suffocating shackles off, go for it people
Friday is just the beginning! Here’s info on the rest coming down the line. It’s sooooo easy to participate in this. Prepare in advance / hope ahead if you need but please do it! We have power when we act together to support each other.
Not just 2/28. It must be a total boycott or it will not be nearly as effective. Stop giving these people your money. Shop local. Brick and mortar only, either in personor shipped from their site directly. And do without whenever you can.
"No amazon, no walmart, no fast food" should not be just 1 day out of the year, until they start bowing to the will of the people, it should be every single day. As for tools we have left, we have not begun to fight & unless we starting fighting soon, all of our ability to fight will be taken away.
Don’t buy don’t fly don’t AiRBB don’t improve don’t buy appliances don’t buy furniture don’t buy vehicles don’t buy any new electronics or phones don’t eat out don’t order from Amazon don’t buy health insurance DONT FUCKING BUY ANYTHING. Stop feeding the greedy beast.
Just cancelled my Amazon account. I'm cancelling my Sam's Club membership & will no longer be shopping at Walmart, Target, or any business that doesn't support DEI. I'll be spending Friday driving home, so definitely no purchases that day. We can bring these SOB's to their knees by boycotting.
I shop at thrift stores first, then local small biz. I signed up for a weekly veggie basket at a local farm nearby, and get my meat from a local butcher. It was a lot easier to stop shopping Amazon and big retailers than I was expecting. Joined a skill share group to learn how to repair stuff.
This one is easy for me thankfully I haven’t touched Amazon since early January, I haven’t shopped Walmart in over a year (Meijer for the win). Definitely not going anywhere or buying anything on 2/28!
You had me at Meijer. In my family-as some have access to Meijer Marketplace (fancy Meijer) we make the distinction
“Did you get this at Meijer Meijer? Or Fancy Meijer?”
Februaury 28th, Protest with your wallets! Make a descision everyday to support gig workers, and companies/brands that are in support of human rights.
The republicans deprive us of our basic needs, we deprive the billionaires of our money!
We're in! But it's gonna have to be more than Friday yall. https://Generalstrikeus.com We have to withhold our labor longer than a day. Sign the strike card! Spread the word! Gaining traction every day!
I am doing this almost every day done just buying shit!!! No new furniture no new cars only food ( homemade) and gas ( but only outing is to Dr appointments every other month and grocery store) will be planting garden soon!!
Amazon & Walmart have been off my radar since 02/20/25 as with most of the Felon supporting businesses. I only use a Felon supporter business if a necessity arises but not for casual shopping. We live in a red county & red state so there are very few places to shop at. We are the minority here.🥺
Not buying anything except necessities from now on. Food, medicine, housing, and heat. We need to help our disabled nephew instead. Goodbye, fancy skin creams. Goodbye, cute new jeans. Goodbye, helpful gadgets & sleek, pretty pens. Hello, widespread poverty, illness, and death. Thanks, Republicans.
The last time I got fast food was this past summer. I decided it was nasty and not worth $15. The last time I ordered from Amazon was in 2019. The last time I had anything to do with Walmart was around 2007.
I’m in. But I’ve doing for about a month now with WalMart, Amazon, and Target. It’s not hard at all. Just find the alternative store or go the manufacturer directly.
And as far as I can tell-the only fast food chain is Burger King
I am going to revert to what we did when a kid-pack a cooler when on a road trip!
(Will be healthier and cheaper, too)
You need to do MORE than just a day. Commit to minimal consumption. Shop local. Support businesses (small or large)with solid ethics when you DO make purchases.
https://Generalstrikeus.com It'll take more than a day but research indicates it would only take about 9 days. We can do that! Let's gooo! Sign the strike card and spread the word!
I’ve contacted my children and asked them to participate by not going to the stores to get ANYTHING on that day! They promised they wouldn’t. All are working adults with homes , I trust they’ve got what they need ahead of time
I'm getting my groceries tomorrow....not going again until Monday
We have 2 stores....an HEB that gave up half of the store for deliveries...
And a walmart. My choices are so limited unless I drive 45 minutes to Victoria.
This is going to have long ripple effect. My shopping habits have already changed. No more Amazon. No Walmart for years. Spending my money on local businesses.
Same here. My only thing is I wish we had more neighborhood grocers that weren’t boutique shops.
I’m stuck with the choice of a closer, cheaper Fred Meyer or farther PCC which is a co-op but everything is like a dollar more expensive for the same thing.
Maybe states should subsidize co-ops so they can lower prices and provide a local option. Or even subsidizing bodega style grocers in neighborhoods by some small business rule.
Lots of cities have these grocery deserts and could use some help. Maybe nonprofits?

Food co-ops are a great local alternative for those who live near one. They are democratic businesses (customers have a vote in the business). Boycotts can be sustained indefinitely when alternative systems based on democracy are established and strengthened.
I started that years ago, and I haven't placed an Amazon order in over 5 years. Dropped Walmart years ago also, and to totally close our Walmart, I stopped my Sam's Club membership costco for life. I have a few local small businesses that I patronize on a regular basis. I saw the greed years ago.
Thank you. I wish I had started years ago, especially not shopping at Amazon. Right now, it is a challenge to carefully plan shopping and decide what I need.
I know I had that same issue years ago. You will figure it out. I did Amazon lost me years ago when I put a gift card on my account shortly after tryed to make a purchase my account was locked because they said fraud kind of funny locking my account after make that deposit.
Every can commit to more. Stop using amazon entirely. It is not a necessity to have your goods hand delivered to your home unless you are disabled in some way and unable to get your own goods. If thats the case i would encourage to try and get delivery from a local grocery store if available
NO. It isn't.
We have MANY other tools we can use.
But the "tools" & tactics & necessary action WILL require a really large majority of #Americans 2 put down their phones, turn off the Xbox & give a shit.
& once they give a shit, get off their asses & #DoSomething or #SaySomething
Shopped at Publix, filled up (it will last me 'til I get to Maine). Now, I'm done. I'm staying at an indie hotel, then I'll go to my bro's in the Catskills.
I won't spend money at Corporate for a LOOOOOONNGGG time.
This is the way. And in addition to a day long blackout, let’s target a company at a time - a bad actor - and collectively boycott one company at a time, indefinitely.
We can bring them down one by one.
And we can promote alternative companies who represent democratic values.
I'm in this for the long haul. Dumped Amazon years ago, recently dumped Walmart for Costco, haven't eaten McDonalds for 25 years (🤮), rarely eat fast food. No FB. Definitely no X (sh*tter). Would never consider buying a Tesla death trap.
And it is a pretty strong one I think. People, the masses just need to care enough to stick through it. We are customers/consumers of all goods and they are all taking advantage of us by supporting the not my president.
Don’t over spend on the days leading up. Only essentials. Still pads their bottom line. The only way to get at these fekkers is by not giving them a cent.
Impact of National Strike—played around on chatgpt & got this. First 3 pics are 3 versions of the strike impact question I asked. The final pic is a partial chatgpt reply to Ask v3. Interesting break from doomscrolling. Try it.✌🏾
For me, no Zuckerberg platforms, no Amazon, no Walmart, no Tesla, no Target, and no Home Depot. I now have an app to check before shopping anywhere, and I do my best to purchase locally. Where I spend money matters, and I strive for every dollar to count every day!!
The power comes from their share prices. Stockholders will bail. Stock value drops. CEOs IMMEDIATELY see a decline in their net worth.
But yes, absolutely agree, we need to keep the pressure on them.
We need to bring a message with the blackout: IMPEACH HIM, THROW HIM OUT.
He needs to be gone.
I’m getting fuel and a handful of necessities today. I’m going to be getting up and going to work that day. Nothing more. I’ve already warned my teenagers not to be asking for anything that day. It might just continue through the weekend.
and if they ask us why we tell them, it's proof that We The People can see that the coup seeks to strip us of our spending power & choice. Retail & Entertainment are dependent upon our money. if we fall, they fall.
This is our problem. We finance them with our endless spending. Trade, barter, share, shop second hand stores and stop endless spending starve these shitbag oligarchs to oblivion. They only understand money so give them as little of your hard earned money as possible!!!
Not just one day for me! I cancelled Amazon on inauguration day and will boycott any and all companies or products supporting this coup. Democracy deserves more than one day. This includes all stocks in any companies either. I have liquidated my stock portfolio of traitors to democracy!!!
I never hit Walmart anymore and just joined Costco to help defray my Amazon purchases but since I don’t drive, I’m still stuck with Amazon until I figure it all out.
Even if some things cost more due to boycotts forcing you to shop elsewhere, every redirected purchase has some effect in defunding evil and there are hidden benefits. Freedom isn’t free…
https://Localharvest.org excellent source for food, locally made products even not local but they ship. Best for you, the farms, independent sellers. Plus, the box stores get nada from your wallet. Win win
I think some may. Shop cooperative grocery stores. Even those that don't per say. A small farm could use our dollars more than a box store. It's a win for carbon footprint reduction as well. Every bit helps.
I'm going to observe this for a week. As a side note, 18 Egg Lands Best XL eggs went for $9.49 yesterday. This is up fifty cents two weeks ago; for those who are tracking such things.
If you have to eat out, please eat Mexican, Asian, local, etc... I have a business dinner that day and we picked a local place that was affected by hurricane helene.
Unifying votes for Dems is the only tool we really have. And yet far left fools have to ‘vote their conscience’. So we keep getting republicans. And the republican party knows this.
Stop the stupid! Vote to WIN, not for your useless fantasy candidate.
I don’t shop at Walmart, don’t buy fast food, my Amazon shopping is waaaaay down. I’m all for the blackouts!
Once we get used to one day day blackouts, we need to increase it. I went on vacation & realized it’s easy to stay off Amazon for a week. Don’t buy anything that’s not a necessity.
I'm down. Been working on going to only skill trading and barter as much as possible for a couple years now. I believe that small transactions are the only way to maintain a long-term stable economy.
We don't have enough money, therefore I was warned not to bring anyone else to the shelter. I was aware that I couldn't accomplish that. I knew that if I saw my reflection in another black trans woman, I couldn't possibly say no. I simply cannot.

Charity shops, thrift stores, local Craigslist-win for the environment, charity and your wallet.
But what about Chinese food?
Just means ppl stock up/fill up on Wed or Thurs.
No net loss is no real impact.
WHERE and HOW we spend sends the message, not WHEN.
- Cut out non-essentials
- Give up Amazon, Walmart, etc
- Eat local, not corporate restaurants
I’m willing. Are you?
Seems like throwing a bucket of water on a forest fire to me.
No other money will be spent.
Wait till rural MAGA lives with their community hospital closed laying off staff and their grocery store closed laying off staff and they have to travel for EVERYTHING-with less income
No more!
Android & iOS
I just hope those saying they are going to boycott Friday, are really doing it.
“Did you get this at Meijer Meijer? Or Fancy Meijer?”

BUY LOCAL, SMALL BUSINESS, FARMER’S MARKETS, FAMILY -OWNED!!!
I am going to revert to what we did when a kid-pack a cooler when on a road trip!
(Will be healthier and cheaper, too)
And looking into garden sharing
I’m trying to make my entire yard edible.
It’s still a work in progress, but the backyard is well on the way!
We have 2 stores....an HEB that gave up half of the store for deliveries...

It’s a beautiful and totally free way showing the oligarchs who is the real boss
So, This Friday Don’t buy anything from anyone
No buying online
No fast food
Let’s kick em’ in the cash register
I won't spend money at Corporate for a LOOOOOONNGGG time.
We can bring them down one by one.
And we can promote alternative companies who represent democratic values.
Only buying essentials.
Here:
I would commit to this.
Seriously, why not EVERY DAY?
Asshole companies don't get my money and haven't FOR YEARS
Imagine how powerful a real, more-than-one-day sacrifice would be, by even a small percentage of the population.
There are essential purchases, but everything else?
But yes, absolutely agree, we need to keep the pressure on them.
We need to bring a message with the blackout: IMPEACH HIM, THROW HIM OUT.
He needs to be gone.
Don't go for just one day; mark each day you avoid these companies with a big-ass heart!
Make this a cause.

Every day, in every possible way.
