Fortunately looks like PM position is safe from the far right candidate. I don't think president has as much power as the PM when it comes to policy(correct me if I'm wrong)
Oops! Sorry, as an American I forgot it would probably be a parliamentary system. I'm sure it's still important to have a head of state who represents the country's interests.
Don’t be melodramatic it’s only a disaster if he wins. And even if he wins the president has virtually no power in Romania. It would still be a disaster for Romania but not the end of the world.
I Just read some more and there is a Norwegian with a podcast talking about it now. Disaster. Love Romania as I visited several times and have friends there....
Counting is not over yet, and there's the run-off (2nd round) in two weeks since none of the candidates will have obtained over 50% of votes cast in the 1st round. Here's to hoping for a sudden outbreak of common sense.
