So I feel like this is the better place to put this thread even though I try to keep it relatively Rutgers free but the blowback here won’t be as bad…I don’t want Steve Pikiell to be fired and I think he is a very good college hoops coach.

But, also, he’s more than that. He came here and made things more than about wins and losses. From sending a thank you note after the season, to cultivating a player who’d eventually visit my house to surprise my kids on Father’s Day.
From everything I’ve heard, everyone on campus loves him. Yeah, it’s easier when you win but he represents the university well. I don’t feel like I’m watching the Yankees or Devils when I’m watching Rutgers hoops. I feel like I’m watching something I am a part of.
It’s not corporate, it’s not a level removed. It hurts a lot when we lose and feels really good when we win. I try really hard not to say “we” when talking about a sports team but it is legitimately hard to do when talking RU hoops. That has a lot to do with Pikes, his culture and players.
The sport has changed. His players have changed. And maybe he’s slow in adjusting but Pikes has made this feel like something bigger. I’m 45 years old and relatively smart, it might all be a mirage I fell hook, line and sinker for but I don’t want to move on from him or him to move on.

All the Geo moments.
Those are core memories for me.
I want him here to create more no matter how the rest of the season goes.
