I definitely understand their feelings. Personally I have been through so much with the boys and fandom over the years (8 years) that I’ll support them no matter how they change and grow. But I was able to form that close bond back then. I can see how new fans might struggle with this distance 😞

I've been a fan since 2020, so a much shorter time. But I have to say that 90% of the things that made me bond with them happened before that time. The spontaneous, funny, and honest bits did seem to diminish as they became these huge celebrities and that was probably inevitable but it raises

I think we also need to take into account their ages. They aren’t in their early 20’s anymore, hyperactive and thriving on the attention of fans, they probably want to live more quietly as they are getting older. We’ve seen this shift in members, a big example being Jimin doing a complete 180°.

I think there's this disparity between what they personally want/need to do and what is expected. Take FACE and Muse. FACE sets a certain narrative: here's a person who's disillusioned and lost, expressing their frustrations in a (for K-pop standards) dark and heart-on-the-sleeve way (think SMFPt2)

I do think to a certain extent the constant online presence was something encouraged by the company as much as them. But now that they are so big, there is no longer a need for that. They might try to shift away from the things ‘idols’ do and be more music/performance focused.
