The victim is the Xbox platform which doesn't have a long-term future by offering less than every other platform, and the players who invested in the platform in the past 20 years. Games' wider access is financially profitable but even so there's a good reason no one else does it. Think about why.

I would exclude Nintendo, cause they have been a hinder to both. Kinect and the Move were a waste of resources. You can even blame Nintendo for xbox failing, since they bundled the damn thing with the xbox one.

Sure Gamepass is great but is it worth it when you're missing out on that many games? Not to mention that by the time Xbox games go to PS they're complete and have had updates to fix any bugs.

There is none. Game Pass is on PC and exclusives are now everywhere else, but exclusives elsewhere are not coming back to Xbox hardware in return. Investing in Xbox hardware is now pretty pointless, but that fact isn't clicking with those solely invested into their ecosystem through said hardware.

They're not asking us to buy an Xbox. They're asking us to invest in the ecosystem which to us is GamePass but for them it's Windows OS, Microsoft office, teams etc. They can care less where you install it and who makes the hardware as long as you're using their OS

There are absolutely victims. Those who bought into just Xbox hardware just got screwed over. A big portion of the people who buy these boxes aren't multiplatform gamers either or people with lots of disposable income. Stuff like Forza is on the way to PS hardware, but not Helldivers 2 in return.

What have they lost, considering helldivers wasn't going to Xbox to begin with? They have access to all the titles they would have had access to anyways. I get feeling buyer's remorse about buying an Xbox, and I would feel that too, but imo nothing was lost to that population. No console here fwiw.

Yes and No? Sega went out of the console market fighting, but Microsoft appears to be laying the groundwork to voluntarily reduce their stake while simultaneously grow their dominance in the market overall. See the Play Anywhere initiative they've got going and GamePass

Gaming used to be defined by unique console experiences, but today, PS, Xbox, and high-end PCs offer nearly identical performances. With accessibility now the key factor, the industry’s direction feels uncertain. I miss the days when competition drove innovation and made gaming truly exciting.
