The name of Earl Ervin Perkins isn't as well known as it should be. On 10th February 1941, he enlisted at Aitkin, Minnesota, U.S.A.

On 7th March 1942, he was the first serving member of the U.S. Army to die in the E.T.O. Cause of death was a gunshot wound sustained during a rifle-cleaning exercise.
