Diversity shouldn't be the first priority in Cabinet selection, whether it's gender, ethnicity or religion. More important is intelligence, passion, work ethic, communication & organisational skills. Ed Husic has all these in spades & is a great loss to us all. The faction system has failed us..
Previous example was Fatima Payman, held up by Labor as a great moment in diversity, first woman in a headscarf, who questioned the govt’s stance on Gaza, spoke up for Labor’s *actual* policy, and found herself in the bin.
Never believe the parties when they boast of their noble gestures.
Can't help but think the priority scalp was Dreyfus, with Husic the trade off.
Factionalism is such a pissy, selfish, self-indulgent, flawed form of governance
When I was an ALP member I wanted to be on the Arts Policy Committee in Victoria. This was a pissy little committee with no power whatsoever (the arts have no sway in the electorate) but I was interested. Still, I couldn’t be elected because even there the factions selected who should be voted in
Exactly if they weren’t owned by the Zionists they would not be enablers of genocide; they would cut their weasel words of deeply concerned &shift them into action #pennywong #elbowkneesee parts for f35 Bombay doors would not be engineered or heat treated at Ferra engineering in Tingalpa and they
Would #cuttieswithisrael #expeltheisraeliambassador #sanctionisrael and stop MPs visiting #israelisaterroriststate They are OWNED by Zionists. Mins is another enabler
For explanation for the dropping of the excellent Ed Husic I don’t think you have to look beyond the brutality and stupidity of ALP factional battles. Islamophobia is a thing alas but probably not here.
In both cases, there are rules which the ALP has run by for decades. Both Husic and Payman know this. The rules were fine when they benefited from them; as soon as they didn't, they decided the rules were wrong.
When Albo continues to wave the “unity flag” in caucus, then bending over to the faction right by dropping Husic and Dreyfus from the cabinet, what a hypocrite!!!
Both retained their seats, both did a good job in last 3 years.
This is the reason Australians have given up on the 2 major parties! 😡
This is why they can only get 32.58% of the primary vote and come next election if they don't change it will be less and they will need to rely on more preferences so let's fuck them and vote more independents into parliament
The best logic in Australian politics given in a singular comment. It has a normative obligation on all good Australians. It has policy directive, deontological outcome, everyone can understand it and everyone wins. ❤️🌳💙🌻💜🌷
I would envisage that Husic will be given some parliamentary role by Albo. Perhaps when things quieten down Albo will pressure the faction and he’ll be back in a reshuffle. Albo has a lot of leeway after this victory
Yes, i think so, too.
All that "factional assassin " reporting missed the really interesting bits.
But I reckon Ed's there for the long haul. Hopefully.
My wife and I are going through a tough time and deeply need your support. Your contribution or sharing our story makes a big difference.
Thank you from the heart to everyone standing with us.🙏🏻🤍♥️🤲🏻
First time we've watched insiders in a very long time - Husic was impressive. I wonder if labor have outsmarted themselves by casting an articulate supporter of the human rights of Palestinians to the back bench
Just as the liberal party is dead just needs a funeral soon as the corpse is beginning to stink , we are witnessing the death of Labor take this aside keep it for reference .
Ed Husic's early interviews about the Israeli attack on
Gaza were models of diplomacy. If the government were not so one-eyed about the need to sell armaments to Israel, he might have been listened to. He is a great loss and let us hope that his wise words are frequent and listened to.

Wouldn’t be surprised if their seat number drops by one and the Cross-Bench increases by one.

It is frustrating & demoralising.
Very weak minister.

My son said it was about faction numbers. I find that hard to believe. Its about reducing "noise" in the party room.

Albo should be free to select the best team free of factional balance
