Chinese sales of electric vehicles and hybrids have accounted for more than half of retail passenger vehicle sales in the four months from July, a trend that’s poised to send appetite for transport fuels into decline.

Almost all taxi cabs in Beijing and Shanghai are EV's which has helped bring on a dramatic improvement in air quality. Of course there are massive government subsidies involved but at least they are doing something

A drop in global demand for petrol will not spark a subsequent decrease in corporate greed. The US, if still under conservative rule, will restrict domestic EV use to prop up demand for ICE vehicles.
All one need do is hand them a weapon and they will turn it on themselves.
