Letting tech race ahead with no regulation or accountability is reckless. The developers must reduce power and water use to reasonable levels before they can go any further
There’s an easy fix to the AI data center problem.
1. Always make data centers pay full upfront capital cost to bring them online.
2. Freeze all residential electricity rates ASAP. Industrial and commercial users must pay for cost increases, not people.
3. In emergency, curtail data centers first.
AI is like Amazon. Amazon destroyed local retail, killed off book stores. Now you buy online, but you don’t know what you’re getting. If you want good quality, good-fitting clothes, you’re paying more than ever after you factor in shipping, returns, $$ wasted on things that you don’t use, time.
AI steals creators’ content, repackages it, and directs revenue to a handful of corporations instead of the original creators. It’s going to destroy content creators and quality in much the same way Amazon destroyed retail.
