Ozy Media co-founder Carlos Watson, who was set to begin serving his nearly 10-year prison term for lying to investors in his startup, had his term commuted by President Donald Trump on Friday, according to a senior White House official.

Of course he has, he needs acolytes for the fourth reich. How the American people are letting a bunch of criminals run their country amazes me. How the mighty have fallen
Rewarding grifters is a feature, not a bug. If you read the wiki page on these guys, they were a dumpster fire of fraud and mismanagement since the beginning. Pardoning him is furthering Trump’s designs on a new kleptokakistocracy state.
They all must have a half hour time slot on his weekly calendar to plead their case and leave their pot of gold for his thoughtful and discerning decision making. Everything is a deal, everyone is for sale.
Trump might have commuted Carlos Watson’s sentence, but it basically confirms that Watson is a bootlicking fraudster. He was willing to do or say anything to achieve his aims at Ozy and he was willing to do more than that to save his own ass.
This will kill early or any investor interest in start ups. With no laws to protect against fraud, where convicts walk free because of government corruption, forget it.
This ability for presidents to pardon convicted criminals, apparently on a whim, must undermine the legal system. Trump alone has so far done this for 2,000, often friends and business associates. "No one is above the law" is patently not true if this is allowed to continue.
Darn…I had 500 to 1 that the next pardon would be for the Unabomber. DOGE wants a munitions expert for Fed strongholds that refuse to vacate the facilities since they started living at the office after being fired and then the buildings were sold.

And one day may?
The riches and the powerful have always above the law since the beginning, the legal system just exists to punish the poor.
Trump just demo to the world how corrupted this system can be.
