It would certainly explain why her computer would be struggling. Not why her hard drive is overheating that still doesn't make sense to me.

well, it would hit the hard drive so it'll hot to the touch and at some point start swapping and slow down the entire machine

Well, my wife who regularly processes databases bigger than that just shrugged and said yeah, some of her colleagues refer to the whole computer as the hard drive. Which made me 🤯
