It really shows how much computer technology has advanced that DOOM was optimized for baseline commercially available home computers in the 90s. Today, it can run on a PREGNANCY test. We have DISPOSABLE computers as powerful as baseline home PCs were 30 years ago.
I've been playing Doom Eternal lately which means I'm also playing original Doom when I have time too. That game really was like nothing else when it came out. It still feels special
It was the game that made me want a PC, and I saw it running in Windows 95 under DirectX! It was a different time. Though I will always lament that Commodore and Atari were so badly mismanaged.
When I was a little kid in the 90's, my dad showed me that when you beat minesweeper the little face would get cool sunglasses. I used to beg him to give the little guy sunglasses so much that he would get frustrated, so he learned to beat minesweeper consistently so I could see the sunglasses lol
