Seems the wealthy flock to conservative parties which cling to this. The more liberal parties seem to have more humanising, inclusive,& equitable policies.

Yes, the politics in NZ at the moment led me to make the comparison, but it’s clearly not isolated. Important to make humanising, inclusive and equatable policies a social norm for sure.

This is so on point. The shame that comes with being poor and/or being sick, is truly hideous. For me to write that I watch my son eat dinner, while I sit there hungry, a few nights each week - it feels like I’ve failed as an adult and as a member of society.

Thank you, but it’s truly ok. It’s not every night, and not every week, but it is becoming more often. I know for a fact that there’s lots of us having the exact same issue. Many solo Mums are going without multiple meals each week, to get by. Many Mums are getting refused food grants too.
