Plausibly not pragmatic for thosr concerned about AI existential risk to make common cause with GenAI haters*, but I notice that pragmatism aside I have strong negative affect towards the prospect. Not sure I'd take the bargain even if I believed it were the pragmatic choice. - ThreadSky

People attack your weakest arguments so if that happened xrisk folks would be adjacent to nonsense “AI isn’t useful” strawmen arguments that would be the bulk of the debate. Arguably this has happened even without the alliance, eg my friends assert we don’t weigh the positive benefits.

Yeah, that's part of why I think it's plausibly not the pragmatic choice.

I was just noticing my rejection of the idea was mostly ~cultural and not a cost benefit.
