I really would prefer to be in the timeline where Al Gore insisted on a full recount of Florida, but no, I have to be in the dumbest timeline. #multiverse

They hadn't even finished counting the first time in FL before the Supreme Court ruled that the count should end and Junior be declared the winner. Worst decision in SCOTUS history, although there have been many. We'd be in a different place today had Al Gore taken his rightful place as president.
The Dems weren't gutless. The Supreme Court ruled. There was no one above them to appeal to, and Al Gore accepted his fate because he had no choice. He wasn't the type to lead an insurrection--he had honor. HAS honor. Not a word most republicans are familiar with.
Yes they were. Voter fraud and suppression occurred in Florida, plus the Brooks Brothers Riot organized by Roger Stone was illegal. And then the Supreme Court, under Rehnquist, overstepped and decided the vote, not us. And then Democrats caved to the injustice. https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/brooks-brothers-riot/
I don’t understand what you think could have been done at that point. Riots in the streets? How would that change anything? Gore knew he was out of options. Yes, we were mad and disappointed— to say the least. But once the Supreme Court stepped in, it was over.

The Right always cheats, lies, and plays dirty and if we don’t want to live in an oligarchy we’d better get our 💩 together and fight back.
