I've been saying this for years. The general perception of AEW would be way different if the same rotation of like 10-15 podcasters and "journalists" weren't screaming "ACTUALLY THIS IS BAD" for the last 5 years. You repeat the same shit long enough, people who only see headlines will believe it.

People really don’t remember how awful WWE monopoly era wrestling was for fans. I realize that’s a low bar to clear in terms of quality but it’s just insane, we know how bad it can get. Yet there are people trying to tell us how awful AEW is.

Setting "business" aside, the product itself is terrific right now, and if we are talking business, they literally just sold $1M+ of tickets to one show that's over 6 months from now, in like a week

It’s just so odd to me to try and dissect every little number when for decades I would read “lowest rated raw ever” year after year and it literally had no impact on their business. WWE did record profits during the pandemic, there’s clearly aspects of the business people don’t understand.

Raw did a mid episode with two good promo segments (new day split, punk/rollins) and everybody said it was the greatest episode of raw of the year and didn’t even talk about the other 2 hours of the show. Even media who says they judging in good faith are judging on curves.

Not not a whole lot of sources in there to things like “calling for Kahn to take a step back” and “high dissatisfaction”. Also no nuance to why attendance is down like economics or running smaller venues. Overall just bad faith all around.

Before Vince’s NDAs and Janel Grant, I don’t think I ever saw much in terms of demanding he step down. I heard it from fans but I didn’t see it from sources who report and cover wrestling. There’s criticism of AEW but the bizarre and bad faith takes are so overwhelming.
