As an advocate for children and families in my career working for the state House Democratic Caucus, in nonprofit leadership, and as a private consultant, I have learned that there are untapped opportunities in our county.
We can improve the health and wellbeing of our families and improve access to healthcare and nutrition programs. The county should empower the County Department of Children Initiatives to ensure quality early learning, afterschool, and summer programs.
Our first responders including EMS agencies and volunteer fire departments need support so that personnel are ready when needed in every corner of the district. We have innovative police departments in District 3 who can contribute and spread best practices throughout our County.
Finally, in public safety, too many of our roads are not just dangerous but deadly. The county should be proactive in ensuring our roads and intersections calm traffic, mitigate speeding, and deter distracted driving.
As someone who has worked extensively with small businesses, I know our regional economy is facing many challenges, and our small businesses need financial and technical assistance to grow and thrive.
