The clear plastic that these types of vinyl come in will warp the records over the long-term, so take them out if possible (Mine are inside rice paper inner sleeves inside the PVC!)
The good news is you can get decent sleeves in packs of 50 for under $20, so it isn’t like you have to shell out a lot of money to protect your investment of vinyl
thanks bestie! do you know if this applies to the anthology? im new to the vinyl world because i swore i wouldnt go down this rabbit hole, but apparently i started digging the hole...
the anthology doesn’t come with a pvc sleeve :). nonetheless though please do sleeve your records though (rice paper inner sleeves are the best and standard outer sleeves will do) so that way you can keep them safe and they won’t collect dust. vinyls are really delicate compared to cds
thank you for your help! if the anthology is still wrapped/unopened (i dont even own a player yet lol), is it good in there or should i still move them to inner sleeves (i just bought some, so its no problem either way). just not sure if theyre safer staying unopened. and do i need outer sleeves?
i’d definitely buy outer sleeves though for when the time comes, the record cover will collect dust and can damage if you don’t. it just keeps everything a little more cleaner and nice :). you can find them on amazon and ebay for cheap!
ok! i really appreciate your input and recommendations. id be so sad if i accidentally hurt them from my ignorance. ill get some outer sleeves to have handy when the time comes!
yeah, the vinyl will be perfectly fine still in its wrapper until you choose to open it, it’s only the same as them being stocked on the shelves or in a warehouse. i only recently opened a vinyl i’ve had since 2021 and it’s fine!

It seems like it’s more commonly a visual problem, but is also capable of impacting the sound quality as well.
Many collectors keep the sleeve, but in a different storage space!
