Biden had best administration since LBJ (like LBJ, his foreign policy was horrible) but rarely publicized his best accomplishments; let Mansinema hamstring his agenda; like Gorbachev couldn't keep up with needs of his public.

At least Harris wanted to tax those billionaires and corps. And talk about cozying up to them, gee, he promised them tax breaks and his whole campaign was geared around billionaires. So Harris "cozying" to them doesn't explain the reason(s) he won. This does -

Harris lost primarily because of global inflation, which may have created insurmountable odds for any Democrat. But Harris gave working class people (and not only whites) little reason to believe she'd really help them.

I suspect she would have taken a step back from Biden's most populist policies

It seems the Democratic party was more afraid of a socialist like Bernie in office than a fascist who supports the same billionaires that support them. That's the only reason I can see them choosing another candidate with a coin-flip chance rather than one who easily beat the fascist in polls

An extension of that is that neoliberal Dems' own livelihood is dependant on their control of the party. So they refuse to accept the fact that the neoliberal capitalist Humpty Dumpty can't be put back together again

I truly hope that they aren't so blind that we find ourselves with a Republican supermajority in a couple of years, because I can't even imagine the damage that may do. No matter what there's a lot we'll need to do outside of electoral politics, because we cannot trust the Dems to fix this.

This is the huge and terrible danger. Neoliberal capitalism is toast; either green social democracy or authoritarian nationalism will be consolidated for the next three decades. If it's the latter, we may not survive three decades and those who do may wish they hadn't
