To be clear, these are user submitted cover images for games and not images that have been posted by staff or owners of Start Playing.

They are also in direct contradiction of Start Playing's established rules.

In an interest of self-preservation and fairness to the artists whose work is stolen by AI generators, Start Playing needs to:

1) Implement automated AI detection to filter out submitted images.

2) Add a way for users of the site to flag art they suspect of being AI.

That’s the thing. I went through their orientation when I was applying to start DMing there and GenAI art was encouraged (or at the least, not discouraged) . The legal language around the technology isn’t clear copyright-wise.

Early on in my bluesky experience it was extra depressing seeing the swaths of people trying to "get there's" with quick batches of npc photos, maps and all the other crap that was done em masse.

I still have hopes it will get as shameful to have been a part of it as nfts and other scams
