Favourite is a hard question, but one thing I like to grow that is easy and maybe is less commonly grown is leaf celery as a herb. Much much easier than attempting to grow celery, but you get that lovely celery flavour for your soups, stews and salads.

Tip tip. On our allotment its a race to get tomato's ripe before Phytophthora blightens the blijheid.
Not the end of the world - green tomato's are great for making chutney out of. In fact, I prefer them that way.

Yeah - we had so many Alicante tomatoes in pots that we thought we'd have a real glut. Then the sun stopped showing, so now we have jars and jars of amazing green tomato chutney.

Chickpeas. There is nothing like a fresh green chickpea. Grow as a cover crop in zone 9A. They put lots of nitrogen into the soil. Learned to corral them with tomato cages

If you have trouble getting a herb garden started, consider dill and chives. They thrive on neglect and are nearly indestructible - and there is no limit to the number of dishes improved by chives!

Tomatoes - lots of compost and good air circulation. I like to plant things closely but with tomatoes, I give them some space. This helps with mildew.

Love growing runner beans on a teepee. Lots of fun. But they die if you even mention cold weather.
Onions from sets for ease and satisfaction and i love growing multicoloured chard as it looks so nice

For me it's pumpkins - last year I got about 70, with 4 different varieties. Top tips: plenty of well rotted manure in the planting hole, feed regularly, and give them as much water as you can once the fruits appear (they're very hungry and very thirsty plants)
