Also even if it's not a scam, I write and post these stories for free. Why on earth would I pay some rando a large amount of money for art via a website like ao3 lol

The one I saw had a similar start but it didn't go to the part about commissioning them for a comic lol, just asked for contact IIRC

They are scams. I heard about these going around on ao3 about a couple weeks ago. Not sure if they’re bots or not but it seems the verbiage is all the same. I haven’t personally gotten any of those comments on my works but do know they are out there.
