Probably because ableism is so foundational in our society, that, like other forms of systemic oppression, folks just don't notice it until it's pointed out and then when it is pointed out they don't want to accept what they're being told so they turn it into a joke about outrage culture.

And right now there's an inflection point where the folks making comments dismissing marginalized people pointing out things like this need to realize they are part of the Huge Problem.
But also I'm getting there slowly because this is not my first time at this particular rodeo.
I've always used social media to gain plural perspectives; that is one of the things it excels at.
1. they forget that disabled people exist
2. disabled person gently reminds them not all experiences are universal
3. they get ANGRY
