I phoned my Rep Nancy Mace, a self described supporter of women’s rights, but she evidently supports the SAVE ACT. The staff member I spoke to wouldn’t tell me what her stance is. Since she won’t appear in person at a Town Hall, it’s impossible to confront her.

I will never be able to vote again. My birth certificate says one name, adoption papers another name, HS diploma another name, marriage certificate my current name. My mother changed our names each time she married. Back in those days you needed no proof of last names when you enrolled in school.

I’m afraid to change my name now as I depend on SS benefits and the chances of them getting it right and not missing payments is not good. Most of my years working were under my married name. I remember going to the SS office just to get them to fix my first name from Vickie to Victoria. Not fun.

The name on my birth certificate does not match my the maiden name on my marriage certificate. My name changed multiple times in between. I don’t have a certified copy of my adoption papers either. Back in my mother’s days, no proof was needed to change names.

Yeah, I had to try 4x to get a FL DL even though my old DL was on the screen with my current name. Required multiple pieces of paperwork. I did all of that in order to get a passport. But I think if you submit everything w a letter, you might get a passport bc that's what I ended up having to do.
