There was one day my father was going off on a woman who'd been assaulted. That was when I finally asked him,"Daddy? What if that happened to me?"
He stammered, and didn't have an answer, but it didn't stop him from dumping on victims of assault.
Because most people can't imagine something happening to themselves. But many people can imagine things happening to others. People never think things will happen to them, until it does. 🤷♀️
Didn't work for me, all my parents asked is "what was i wearing" and told me, "it takes two to tango." I was abducted, raped and nearly killed, but you know, I was asking for it.
Yes. Not only do many fathers not have a daughter (me, for example), but the correct analogy IS "what if it happened to me". Maybe one day we will live in a world where it happening to ANYONE will resonate, but we are not even close to that now.
