They still have The Guy That Makes Sure The Sprinkles Are Random as a job, but as an adult i'm realizing that's a way more intricate job that requires qualifications in quality control and i'm not getting that job in any career path I choose.
I was only able to find a job by sacrificing a massive amount of my own autonomy to the Canadian government and it's not exactly hard to see why. My only other options are dead end jobs or doing sex work. :/
Friendly reminder to consider your other options heavily before you are forced to take something you are meant to groom your face with to a piece of headwear for no other reason than because fuck you have fun with your beret.
i still wish i could work food service as a career. i like making salads and sandwiches and pizzas and stuff. i don't wanna have to study to be a pro chef, i don't wanna run my own restaurant, i just wanna make food that people enjoy. i also want a basic livable wage and work that won't destroy me.
like, it seems perfectly reasonable to me to work 6 hours a day in a job where i'm standing and walking around, making stuff, so long as i can afford to live a comfortable life, and take breaks long enough to allow my body to recover between shifts.
boomers acting like everyone wanting to be a content creator these days is a mark of vanity and not a symptom of an ever shrinking job market which is eliminating more and more career paths every day.
content creation is just about the only field left with variety in it.
I had my dream career for 15 years and now itβs just gone and it sucks. Almost 40, looking like I have to start over, and it was such a niche job that it doesnβt easily translate into anything else.
10 years working as a content writer here, absolutely loved it despite the relatively low pay. I was doing unique content and tutorials in a couple of specialized niches for the last 3 years or so.

Teacher. Artist. Archaeologist. Writer. Journalist. Forester. All jobs that technically still exist but have vanishingly small job markets, are piecemeal contract jobs, are severely underpaid, or all 3.
Archaeologist means scientist wich comes with some extra exploration under the name of "oh change your whole life every 4 or so years seeking for post doctorate positions around the world".
πΌπΆ these are a few of my favorite things πΆ
unfortunately, these vitally important jobs are undervalued or discarded by those without compassion or curiosity...
I admit this fact has spurred my zeal in trying to dent the reputation of the techbros on Twitter. I was born in 1974 when the sciences seemed bright and promising. Maybe they weren't really...at least I got to interact with some actual laboratory scientists in my time, not hucksters with GPU farms.
