I went from laughing out loud, to being grossed out, to Hugh anxiety about the character peril, to rationing myself because I didn’t want it to be over.

Really really want to reread this already and to write on them both. But first book 3!

I like the structure of the first one where in the first several chapters, as they follow a character they each mention another character and the next chapter follows them and so on till the threads are gathered later on.

I just finished book 1 the other day, then started Fire Logic by Laurie J. Marks, because it's on the latest Meal of Thorns podcast. There are interesting parallels between City of Last Chances and Fire Logic, the occupied territories, the resistance, the undercurrents of magic.

The Children of Time books were my introduction to his work and the first time in my life I finished a trilogy and immediately went back to the beginning to read (/listen) to it over again. I’ve been on a nonstop Tchaikovsky binge ever since (and he hasn’t missed yet!)
