I’ve never really bought into the “the future is going to suck for them”. How many times throughout history could adults used that as a reason to not have children? Again, I think I must be a pollyanna because I would let this doomerism keep me from having a family. - ThreadSky

There's also the whole "keep the birth rate up to prevent economic/cultural/societal collapse" thing. If we all followed that guy's advice, the world would just burn faster lol

I also can’t say I’m super worried about that either tbh,although I do think we should structurally support parents with affordable child care, housing, etc.

I think the worry is that if an age group largely avoids having children, they won't be replaced by the younger generation when they leave the work force. So they either have to work longer, or society will struggle to foot the bills for social safety nets w/o depleting them for future generations

This is less of problem in the US (at least for our lifetime), where immigration, work visas, etc help offset our slightly-below replacement birthrate. It's a legit concern in other countries where the birth rate is already super low and steadily declining.
