Shen Qiao was WAY too good for him. But the way this book was written, story telling so fascinating, that you’d eventually see that their relationship was something special and it somehow worked out.

Took me awhile to believe in Yan Wushi (felt like he was a tad better in the show - he was way more merciful). I hated his guts in the beginning. 😒 Then I just felt conflicted along the way. The things this book does to you. Just an incredible read!
Funnily enough, I didn't even hate Yan Wushi at the beginning. Not until he took Shen Qiao that one night & left him. That she somehow made it work after that is impressive as a writer.
I didn’t like how he had pure intentions of manipulating a dying SQ from the get go. 😞 I didn’t even know how a romance of any sort was gonna work but I had fallen so hard for SQ, I just admire him so much. 🥺 Oh I had to take a mini break after THAT betrayal.
I didn’t even know how I was gonna finish after that. But idk how something compelled me to read on and I’m glad I did. Maybe a part of me just wanted really wanted to see SQ come back stronger than ever and kick ass but alas he is again too pure of a soul for this world. 🙃
