Well, for instance, if you're in the UK, it's literally illegal for you to host a forum, as you would be responsible for any user generated content posted within. I just don't host a forum because I don't want the pain of having to run and moderate one. Same for a wiki. - ThreadSky

Basically, I'm lazy, and don't want to have to babysit a potential cesspit 24/7. Especially that I'd have to pay for that potential cesspit. I'm already grateful that my public Discord server is next to dead, so I don't have to play moderator.

I do have a Github discussions board, which is also next to dead, but I also don't have to babysit that. Except for one time. I already had to break out API to properly delete someone's issues instead of archiving them, when I had to ban them from the org.

Sure, I'd just *love* to buy a server, and host a forum and wiki, that I'd have to patrol at least daily for all contributions. And likely have to fight a constant wave of spam. I could stick Cloudflare Bot Fight in front of it, and get complaints from people who hate Javascript. Or also Cloudflare.

Maybe the true replacement I was looking for was not having to deal with the majority of other human beings on a regular basis. And as I've vacated most of the Discord servers I used to haunt due to Nazi propagation, I guess that leaves me with not socializing with people at all.
