I was just a kid in a theater with his parents. Even I knew the starlets in hot pants couldn't act. And I secretly hoped the annoying little boy would drown in the third act. But I believed Gene Hackman was trying to save everybody because he LOOKED like he was trying to save everybody. Good actor.

This is a stellar piece of writing.

I just finished “Room To Dream” by David Lynch. Apparently Hackman still had the chip on his shoulder when they worked together. Kind of an ur-story of how a director gets what he wants out of an actor who just won’t accept direction.
