Thanks for sharing. LFS numbers definitely not right, though we'll see (eventually!) where they end up. But as blog says, there's def 3.5m people on incapacity benefits. A decent % say they want to work but they don't get help. So, just cuts, no. Offering more voluntary work support, yes. Fair?

They're actually bothered about benefit spending on inactivity, rather than inactivity as such, but worth looking what ideas they're looking at. LFS data (so caveat, but interesting). i6+ rates, so covering needs to pay for increased longevity of pensioners. 1/3

Cutting that down to age 16-64 shows inactivity falling over the long term - but men rising while women falling.

Splitting inactivity trends by age group (but not gender) shows all groups except young people falling in the long term. 50-64s rose after Covid, but now falling, other 25-49 groups volatile post-Covid but not trending up. 16-24s inactivity rising (some as students). 3/3
