For what it’s worth we don’t call it Canadian bacon here! It’s just bacon (same as you, for the same style of pork belly cut) and then back bacon (what Americans call Canadian bacon) from the loin.
Most Canadians don't even eat "Canadian bacon." I live two blocks from the place where the "famous" food is a peameal bacon (Canadian bacon) sandwich, and, like most locals, I have about one per decade. We all like the same kind Americans eat. (We have our own brands, of course, e.g., Maple Leaf.)
I’ve always called it back bacon! Haven’t heard peameal bacon in eons but I like it better as a term. When I moved to the US for a spell, I kept having to explain bacon is the same thing in Canada, to their confusion.
"The name "peameal bacon" derives from the historic practice of rolling the cured and trimmed boneless loin in dried and ground yellow peas to extend shelf life. Since the end of World War I, it has been rolled in ground yellow cornmeal."
