you cannot watch the CCA circuit and tell me that pickup culture is healthy for the scene. its so cool to see what happens when the storylines actually matter and the teams get months to develop and grow together across multiple big events

I rlly liked the circuit! we got to fight more teams overall and dynamic divs was rlly nice (with league if you get under or overseeded it sucks). big advantage of league is that choosing when to play is rlly nice, esp for busy college students.
I think the circut finals were peak and 1000x more hype than the league format, but the league format for divisions was better for community building and easier storyline following within divisions over the course of a season. CCA staff did do what they could to make up for the storylines tho
the community aspect i can see, i cant really say personally tbf but totally makes sense you lose that level of interaction with other teams in your div. also no more PA9 shenanigans 🥺🥺 they both have a place ig but as an avid spec going back to league format loses a lot of hype for me :c
I think I made more friends in the CCA community in league format, but I had so much more fun with the finals in Circut even if they were really grueling - super super rewarding experience and INSANE production. I hope we continue to get a bit of both formats in the future
Hmm i think i see ur point. I agree that a more competitively encouraging environment is alot more fun for the teams wanting to put in the effort… but isnt that what the wider splatoon comp scene is for? Idk i wish there was a way to make a format both flexible and competitive for college students
Bc yeah being able to play more than a handful of teams in matches that matter sounds awesome I wish it was easier to hold these events while allowing those who want to get involved to play enough despite scheduling
yeah i wish there was some magical solution to have both, and tbf i think they could tweak aspects of the circuit to make it more flexible (eg only your top 3-4 qualifiers count for pts). but honestly imo the wider comp scene has been lackluster at fostering competition and does a better
I agree with a lot of points, however it was difficult for a lot of teams to set aside a big chunk out of a weekend day instead of having the flexibility to schedule a match when it fits our busy schedules. Because my team was so busy this semester we had to skip 3 circuits.
