i keep finding cool cards i want to add to Neon Aether but i can’t because i don’t want “target artifact” effects to be able to mess with any opposing Artifact Lands

This might sound crazy but I solved this problem in Companion Cube by cutting all the artifact lands; I think a lot of cubes that are centered around artifacts already have plenty of density without putting them in the land section, and if you're running into a concrete downside, try without!
Idk Im actually a huge fan of messing with mana especially in the 4 cmc+ range. Its not so low to the ground that it feels unbeatable but its an axis of attack most cubes are missing.
in general i’m fine with it (i’m even in favor in desert cubes), but when something targets a land it’s usually costed appropriately. something like haywire mite exiling an opposing land is way undercosted and not the “intended” use case. gain control of target land would probably cost more than 4mv
plus part of the pre draft spiel mentions lands are safe from being exiled or messed with. maybe the 4mv restriction is worth revisiting in the future, i would love to get hostage taker some more places to shine
Yeah I get all this. That was kinda my point. Haywire Mite is basically Sinkhole which Im not advocating for. This is like Sowing Mycospawn at home. Probably still a power outlier, but 🤷♀️ sometimes its worth getting weird with it
love 2 get weird! energy is already kinda weird and artifacts are generally broken enough that i try not to power creep or degenerate creep this particular cube so things stay “above the belt” as much as i can keep them so
