This is what worries me - Irrespective of the leverage he has, Trump is likely to be more aware than most of the degree to which the Kremlin has helped him personally. He may not want to shake the relationship, especially if his vanity and ambition prevail. See Macbeth.

There is clearly a long-standing grudge over Zelensky too, and in this sense, I see similarities between Trump and Putin, with narcissism, greed, and spite often displacing the interests of the countries they were appointed to serve.
I find it hard to be optimistic at the moment.
