to any minors who happen to read this: remember that the internet isn't a safe place.

please talk with people your age and stay away from adult spaces. most importantly, avoid those adults who brag about being safe towards minors: if they truly were they wouldn't need to be so vocal about it.

don't share private information with strangers on the internet: the city where you live, your address, your diagnoses, and so on. anything could be used AGAINST you.

if anyone – regardless of their age – is pressuring or harming you, don't hesitate to reach out to your parents or any trusted adult.

Yesss exactly, the biggest, BIGGEST, issue is DMs. NO adult should be DMing with minors. There’s genuinely no reason to. There are other adults for adults to talk to and other minors for minors. Kids should not have grown strangers as their confidants online. Period.

unfortunately the internet is very different from when i myself was younger and i can't really blame minors for joining platforms such as twitter, tiktok and so on. online spaces designed for kids aren't a thing anymore, and people of every age are mixed together.

teach kids internet safety or check their online activity; it was important ten years ago and today it's a fundamental thing to do, considering kids are given unrestricted internet access at a very young age (and i'm not gonna lie, this fact concerns me quite a lot).

would want to befriend a minor. like, there's genuinely no valid reason for that. the world is full of cool people who share your interests, you can reach out to them and leave kids alone.
