Nostalgic for this professor (me) whose been around so long that both first (CMT) and senior (GL) authors are former postdocs
I recall reading, maybe 15 years ago now, how Merck screened 3,000 clinical isolates to show that the vaccine target Fe binding protein was conserved
and the vaccine then crashed in clinicals
just amazing work here, sleuthing out the complex stuff going on
