all the lawns in my old neighborhood had used weed killer with nary a dandilion to be seen. A couple with a toddler walked by my yard, which had not been de-weeded. That little girl picked a fuzzy dandilion, and blew. She had the biggest smile ever. And so did I!

We had Mammoth variety which we saw in the book The Sunflower House when the kids were little, so we saved that seed and grew them for many years ❤️

When I was a kid, we had an aviary with parakeets & cockatiels in our backyard. We grew sunflowers - when the seeds on the flowers dried out, we would put the whole flower heads down on the floor of the aviary. So fun watching the birds go absolutely nuts over them.

That sounds wonderful ❤️
We had some wonderful wild parrots and lorikeets hanging out of our sunflowers eating them when the kids were little, and they loved it.
This is the first year I've managed to grow them again, so it's kinda glorious!
