Thanks, when I couldn't find them, I went to the zoo because they had more flowers than anyone. The zoo then offered me a job, and I became Harambe's personal photographer. Crazy chain of events that allowed me to show the world how special Harambe was.

I live next door to a beautiful botanical garden in Virginia. It was a wonderful place to take pictures. Now, we are retired and living near the beach. I decided to make our garden a place for all wildlife. The only negative is because we don’t spray; I get ticks bite. 😬

My backyard is devoted to local wildlife and every year I remind myself that putting up with mosquitoes is the price I pay to keep it chemical free. The squirrel was a few hours ago.

I remember as a kid the insect apocalypse that would be our family car after a long drive in the summer. I remember not just a combined weight of the insects also the variety of strange creepy crawlers. To think of all the new roads and all the new cars and how clean their windshields are now.

UK here but my mum casually mentioned the other year that when she went for country walks, there were just hardly any insects etc any more compared to when she took me as a kid. It was just in passing but was heartbreaking

When I was a kid if you drove in the country, your windshield would be covered with smashed bugs. Now, not so much.

I’ve been planting natives in my yard and not raking leaves in the fall (free mulch too!). My neighbors do the same. I figure every bit counts.

YES. Driving through the CA Central Valley in the summer, you could hardly see through your windshield within a couple of hours. Now you can drive all day without needing your wipers 😿

We are doing our best to save them, but every year since we started on this journey in 2018 of saving the monarch butterfly; the number has gone down by half. 😞 we increase from 100 MW to 600 milkweed on 3 acres. Truly sad.😢

I grow a patch of tithonia just for the monarchs that make their way to 37th and Pennsylvania in Indy. I *ONLY* see them at the end of the season. I assume that there aren't enough being born south of me and the ones I see are those hearty enough to make the trek south.

we try to keep local foliage growing, especially bee and butterfly friendly plants. we've got more insects then the surrounding neighborhood being where we're at so it's at least partially working but I wish it was the kind of thing people took more seriously.
