I'm genuinely surprised that some people have already lost faith in the manager when we know the squad is poorly constructed. Other than the first 30 yesterday, we've been competitive and looked better but the team are just unable to put the ball in the net which kills everything.

There's a huge gulf between where we are and where he wants us to be, but it was the same for Ten Hag. He'd have been wise to shut up shop rather than drop in a new system on arguably one of the most brain dead squads in the league. I don't think pointing this out is throwing in the towel tho

Surely to God his system isn't just one way of playing? There must be adaptation - both in game and between different games. There are times when being tighter is required, and given the run of games and our form, being tighter would be very welcome rn. ETH failed due to stubborn refusal to adapt

ETH failed because 2.5 years in, no one had any idea what he was trying to do, we were conceding 20 chances a game, never had any control, capitulated every time we scored or conceded and never created chances. Some of those things have already improved massively

They've done that though, I don't think he's suggesting he's never going to tweak tactics or selections but he has to stick to his principles. We set up very differently away at Arsenal and city for instance. He also adapted last night after 30 mins and we were the better team after that

I just think if he abandons it for some short term results, so we can finish say 8th/9th, it would be madness. Im not blaming him for any of this. He could make things easier in the short-term, but it would just delay the long-term plan. He needs to stay strong. The players need to step up, but everything looks beyond them at this point. Keep faith with him and clear the rot out.

Exactly. All our deficiencies are being laid bare, which in the short term is horrendous and extremely painful, but it needs to happen otherwise we are destined to be mediocre forever. Klopp, Arteta, Guardiola all had short term pain which highlighted the issues that needed addressing

I think it’s probably surprised Amorim how ill-equipped these players are to follow instruction. But increasingly the atmosphere in the stadium is making harder. Either way, he’s right to do what’s he’s doing, and we just have to ensure this period as best we can. He needs the fans onside.

I think it's an element of that and a combination of them being engrained in the ETH ways, not being good enough, not being fit/fast/physical enough and being completely devoid of confidence. I know the latter is easy for fans to fob off, but it's huge and you can see it in front of goal/final 3rd

Ive not seen anyone throw the towel in with Amorim, he's clearly an elite manager from what he did at Sporting. The issue is all utd, and Ineos. The timing of demanding he joined in Nov, with a squad totally unsuited to his style, with no time to train them was insanity. Coupled with Ashworth farce.

If they do end up in a relegation scrap (and I believe that's unlikely but not impossible) then people will throw the towel in on the manager and most likely it will be the club who do so first. 10 years of papering over cracks and now everything is made of paper.
